KSUM is going to the Picture Show at the Merchants Exchange this Friday, the 21st. Tickets are free for members! This is a great chance to mingle and have fun, so contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org to grab a seat and coordinate rides (if needed). If you join KSU Men, your ticket will be free as well. Final discussion on movie selection will be at this Thursday’s meeting.
Next week is Thanksgiving break! Enjoy your ritual consumption of various dead animals. KSUM will be here when we get back.
KSUM Members, It’s time we stopped dragging our knuckles like a bunch of gorillas and enter modern civilization like the big black obelisk from the sky foretold.
There is a new form on OwlLife where you can add agenda items for discussion. The Secretary will keep track of submissions and add them to the agenda for the next meeting. When we exhaust agenda items during a meeting, we will basically do whatever we want until we adjourn.
To fill out the form, you must be logged into OwlLife as a KSU student. Go to KSUM’s page and click “Forms” on the left side. Once you are on the Forms page, click “Propose agenda item.”
You can propose anything, whether it be a discussion topic, a project update, or a request for funding for a project consistent with organizational business. There are some ground rules, though:
- Just because you propose an agenda item does not mean it actually makes it onto the agenda. You need to propose an item that is relevant to organizational business. If your submission is approved, you will get an email notification.
- Submit proposals at least 48 hours before the next meeting. If your submissions are really close to a meeting, they probably will not get reviewed until after that meeting.
- Your submission being approved only means that we will discuss the subject, but there is no guarantee that some change will come about.
This is how we will organize our agendas from now on, so please make use of this tool.
Thank you for your attention.
A large amount of footage was captured during KSU Men’s Male Students in Peril, so it will take some time to finish processing the footage for production.
In the meantime, check out StudioBrule’s trailer of the conference with sneak peeks into interviews on campus.
Be sure to subscribe to StudioBrule for expert video documentaries on modern perspectives on gender politics.
Thank you all so much for helping us put on such an incredible conference! We have now begin processing for the DVD footage and will start distributing sometime after 4-6 weeks. Also, the new officer elections are coming up and we have 3 new people expressing interest in the positions. If you want to become a KSUM officer, you must be a KSU student and select one of the volunteer positions shown here.
We are also seeking people to assist with the preparation of footage. If you have video editing or composition experience, contact us for a discussion.
Here’s some commentary on the conference from AVfM for you to enjoy for the time being during processing.
The Male Students in Peril conference is this Saturday! Are you excited?
Let’s make sure you get here okay.
Making it to Campus
Kennesaw State University is located at 1000 Chastain Rd, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Every building on campus has its own address, but if you plug that address above into your GPS, it will bring you directly to the Visitor Parking lot.
If you do not have a GPS, follow this guide. This is assuming you are approaching KSU when driving on I-75 N.
- Take exit 271 to Chastain Rd.
- Take a left at the light. (If you come down I-75 S, take a right)
- Take a right at the second light onto Kennesaw State University Rd. You will see KSU’s sign.
- Just go straight. You will see Visitor’s parking.
Everyone can park in one of two lots: Visitor’s parking, or Lot B. Both lots are next to each other. If the visitor’s lot is full, just take a left immediately before the visitor’s lot and take a right into Lot B.
Don’t worry about fees or being in the wrong lot. Weekends are open parking at KSU, but you are encouraged to go to one of the two lots listed above for convenience of access.
Walking to the Venue
You are looking for the James Carmichael Student Center. This is easy to find, because you parked right near it. You will see this structure.
That’s the bookstore, building 395. You can cut through there directly into the Student Center. On weekends, this door may be locked. If it is, just go around to an entrance on the side of the building.
Assuming you entered through the bookstore, keep walking straight until you see this wall on the right.
Those are the University Rooms, which is the venue. The rooms are located on the lower level of the Student Center, near the end of the building opposite of the bookstore. Someone will be there to check your ticket.
On Friday, October 24th 1:00 PM EST in the auditorium of the Social Science building, KSU Men and Atheists United will engage in a Socratic debate on the topic “Did Feminism Get it Wrong?” This controversial topic is bound to attract the attention of hundreds, and any students passionate about gender issues owe it to themselves to pursue the truth about how feminism has harmed men, boys, women and girls.
KSU Men is a marginalized voice on campus, but not for long. This debate will occur 8 days before the historic KSUM conference, which will open the dialogue for men’s issues on campus. This is a chance for all to speak, learn and grow, but only if we are willing to face hard truths.
When you enter the Social Science building from either of the sides shown in the picture above, go past the elevators and the venue will be on your left.
See you there.
